The All-On-X Process: Step-By-Step

Are you interested in the all-on-x implant procedure but aren’t sure what it might look like for you? Let’s walk through the entire process to give you a better idea of how it works.

1. Comprehensive Evaluation: You’ll meet with your dentist for a thorough examination. They’ll evaluate your oral health and overall health and talk to you about your smile goals.  Your dental team will use 3-D imaging to get a full picture of your mouth, which will help determine whether your jawbone has enough bone density to support dental implants. If your jawbone isn’t dense enough to support implants, you may be scheduled for a bone grafting procedure. Your dentist will also talk to you about how many implants are necessary for your particular needs.

2. Treatment Planning: Following the evaluation, your dental team will take all of the information they gathered and use it to create a treatment plan that fits your specific needs. They’ll tell you how many implants you need and the best place to position them in your jawbone. Finally, they’ll create the design for your full denture restoration.

3. Implant Placement: You’ll have oral surgery to get your implants placed. Generally, you’ll have temporary crowns placed on your new implants while your jaw heals.

4. Healing and Osseointegration: The healing process involves your implants fusing with your jawbone (osseointegration), which creates a strong foundation for your new teeth. This is what gives you your natural bite and chewing function back. The healing time varies depending on the number of implants and the person, but this generally takes several months.

5. Permanent Teeth Placement: Once you are all healed up and your implants are firmly secured in your jawbone, it’s time for your permanent teeth! These teeth are custom-made and will match your other teeth. Or, if you are missing all of your teeth, they’ll be designed to naturally fit your mouth and face.
